About Catch Wrestling
In 1871, John Graham Chambers, founded Catch As Catch Can. Catch Wrestling is one of the oldest art forms of Submission Wrestling and the style was the founder of many of the techniques used in today's more modern styles of submission grappling.

About Brazilian Luta Livre
Luta Livre's founder is Euclydes "Tatu" Hatem. In 1909 he was originally a catch wrestler. Brazilian Luta Livre focuses a lot on wrestling style takedowns and leg locks. The Luta Livre uniform consists of a rash guard, shorts and belt to show rank. The grading format is: White, yellow, orange, blue, purple, brown, black and black belt degrees.

About NoGi Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was founded in 1925 by Carlos and Helio Grace. BJJ was influenced by Judo and Catch Wrestling. BJJ was always practiced in the Gi (uniform). BJJ gained popularity in the early 90s since the launch of the UFC. Since the 2000s more and more people who study BJJ have been doing it without the Gi (uniform). This was very frowned upon as well as techniques such as leg locks which were not encouraged in training unlike Brazilian Luta Livre. However, the more popular BJJ became, the more people began doing it without the Gi. Hence the style has had to accept students training and grading without the use of the Gi, otherwise they would lose students to styles such as BLL or Catch. This was the birth of No Gi Jiu Jitsu.

About World Grappling Alliance
Founded in 2024 by Professor Troy Manning
He has put together a modern grappling curriculum that takes all the high percentage moves out of all three of these awesome arts. The World Grappling Alliance has put all three styles under one flag up to black belt then offers black belt degrees under our banner using our black belt degree time in rank time frame.
Our goal is to bring all No Gi grappling arts under one banner without all the politics while keeping a high stranded. We also hope to hold regular tournaments in the near future.
